Invitation To Beep… Accepted!

julie me and angiea few weeks ago the culinary center of kansas city asked if i could play musical vegetables by their front entrance, and help them celebrate national cheeseball day. i said “yes!” and dragged all of my stuff to the curb friday night, including a theremin (that’s the white thing that angie is playing), a milk crate full of fruits and vegetables provided by the culinary center, and a circuit bent speak and math just to keep things weird. this is what it sounds like when you play with your food.

IUAH Beep Blog Complete

hunter-plane1last month i wrote my fifth blog entry for interurban arthouse. this completes the series that started last fall about how i got the rocket grant for beep goes the weasel. since that time IUAH has connected me with the overland park farmer’s market, the johnson county library, and the culinary center of kansas city. i just want to say thanks to nick, nicole, lauren, and all the good people at IUAH.

Wine, Cheese, and Beeps!

winecheesetonight we’re bringing the beeping fruit and veggies to the culinary center of kansas city! the culinary center is celebrating national cheeseball day by providing cheese and wine samples, and hosting beep goes the weasel. it’s the third friday of the month which means it’s time for local life and increased pedestrian traffic in old overland park. so walk across the street from the clock tower for wine, cheese, and beeps starting at 6pm!

Wonderfulness Found

me and billback in the late 1970′s when we were growing up my sister and i listened to bill cosby’s album, wonderfulness, more times than i can remember. on that album cosby talks about the chicken heart, his tonsils, go karts, and so much more. we listened to it every chance we could… until she took it to school one day and accidentally left it in direct sunlight. the heat warped the vinyl until it looked like a potato chip. fast forward to the 21st century: i found this album in the discount bin at vinyl renaissance for $2. wonderfulness can spin again!

The Accolade

bradandangelinathree days ago the johnson county library included yours truly as a featured artist on a new website that spotlights the local music scene. listen local is a blog that is “dedicated to promoting the diverse musical creativity in and around the Johnson County community.”

Happy Birthday Sis!

me and darladarla is my sister. today is her birthday. when mom and dad brought darla home from the hospital, mom said that i had to care of my new little sister. i wasn’t even three yet. as the years went by we used bath towels for capes and pretended to be super heroes, woke up early to watch saturday morning cartoons, and ran through sprinklers in the summer. i can’t imagine my childhood without her. i love you sis.

Coming Attractions That Go Beep!

action shotbeep goes the weasel is an interactive art project that angie wolford, matt hawkins, and i started last summer at the boulevard drive in. this summer we are returning to the boulevard (located at 1051 Merriam Ln, Kansas City, KS). the first two dates scheduled are may 9 & 30. we’ll also be playing at johnson county library july 11 and august 8. oh, and you can expect to hear some beeps at the overland park farmer’s market on a couple of wednesdays too.

The Day We Stormed The Castle

sara's jump croppedtwo of my nieces stayed with us last weekend. saturday afternoon i took sara and mary lynn to a castle that jenny and i discovered last year. the three of us climbed to the top, took in the sights, and signed a geocache log. later i took this pic of sara near the base of the castle.

We Are Not Alone

HONDONIANSi just watched the history of future folk on netflix. it’s an independent movie about two aliens that were going to destroy everyone on earth to make room for their own species… but then they discovered bluegrass music and spared us all from a flesh eating virus doomsday machine. guess i’m not the only weirdo in love with space themes. hondo.
