There was one other time on this blog I directly referenced Groundhog Day, and made a reference to its use of a time loop– it was 4 years ago on the day after Groundhog Day.  Both of my parents left comments on it.  If this day ends and begins again tomorrow, it might be a sign that you need do a self-evaluation and consider changing your ways.  My advice is to love unconditionally, learn acceptance and humility, trust your higher power, and wish Ben & Janis a happy anniversary!

The Memory Palace produces stories that feel like dreams. This one about a major league pitcher resonates with me on three levels:
-Tim Wakefield was the same age as me
-He had the unpredictable skill of pitching knuckleballs (more details about that in the show)
-The baseball setting is one I fall asleep to every night and most Sunday afternoons via sleepbaseball.com.

When I’m playing, learning, or writing a song, I can be totally in the moment.  Music can be electrifying, it can transport me to another time and place that can’t be reached otherwise.  Playing live music can be as fraught as a game of chicken.  It can feel like driving toward a cliff and hoping you know when to swerve or jump out of the car.  These are some bands that have been great vehicles driving that experience since this blog started:

As stated in the previous post, there have been some cool things pop up on this blog over the last 14 years like original podcast episodes (radio shows).  I worked in radio and TV in my younger days when a computer was just something used for finances and solitaire.  Even though those media jobs dried up, I never lost my desire to get behind a microphone so I created the following shows:

I can see it on the horizon… sort of like Albuquerque in the distance after driving for hours in 1975.  We are coming up on the 14th anniversary of this blog.  Waaay back in 2011 I got the idea of writing random thoughts and posting them in cyberspace to see what would happen.  Some notable things actually happened over the last 14 years.  Maybe that’s what I can do here between now and February 9.

I’m not sure how a spaced-out Moog synthesizer would play alongside a mariachi band– but it would be an adventure with an astronaut monkey at the helm.  That scene would have an edge.  The image alone is enough to inspire me to take some PTO and see if I can generate a related believable sound.

This quote resonated with me today.  I’m sure I’ve heard it before, or something like it– but those earlier experiences were like pasta noodles thrown against the wall before they were ready to stick.

Every workday between 11 – 11:30 I send out this message to friends, co-workers, and the universe: COME ON 12:00 !!!! That’s when I take my lunch break. Sometimes I’ll follow that phrase with things like:
“I CAN HEAR YOU BREATHING!”
“I KNOW YOU’RE HERE SOMEWHERE!”
“MY GRANDMA’S FASTER THAN YOU!”
I know that time doesn’t move any faster when I tap my foot, sigh heavily, or tap my watch.  If a three dimensional being ever personifies actual TIME and starts to argue with me about his constraints, zones, and even-handed-ness I’m sure Jenny will shake me until I wake up.

The Wolf Moon was full last week, and it followed me all the way to work.  I sent a pic to Sara and told her it was an ‘eye in the sky.’  She did a little artwork and made it so.  The following paragraph paints the Wolf Moon in yet another realm:
