jerry ponzer came to the house thursday to go over plans for mondo beep in september. we’ll be moving the spectacle to 18th and baltimore (under the TWA rocket) for more space, better volume, and a longer stay.

last night jenny & i watched the final countdown with kirk douglas and martin sheen. it’s a movie about an aircraft carrier that goes back in time for a few hours right before the japanese bomb pearl harbor. then we watched europe’s music video for their 1986 hit, the final countdown. in the video a bunch of guys from sweden jump around a stage with moussed up hair, while their fans mouth the words to the song.

…i mean, clay chris and me. i have played in and out of bands with these two guys since 1990. since then alot of beer has gone under the bridge, and hundreds of songs have either come to life or died on the stage. one night in westport, clay couldn’t even drive home after a gig because his truck was part of a crime scene.

this morning i thought bad weather was going to prevent mondo beep from happening @ first fridays, but it looks like someone is holding back the rain! jerry ponzer and i will be plugged in and jamming electro in about an hour.

jerry ponzer is a regular customer at homer’s coffeehouse. one of the things we both like to do is make weird sounds on electric gadgets. last week we threw a bunch of gear into the jeep and drove to the beach at olathe lake. a few people were milling around when we arrived… by the time we had everything plugged in and droning most of them were gone. here’s a sample of what we did.

there is a music in the park series during the summertime here in OP. tonight’s entertainment was provided by funky mama music. it was great to see little kids dancing, jumping, and high fiving each other… it wasn’t so great when some guy told us that we were talking too loud and causing a distraction in the crowd. i’m pretty sure it was the voices in his head that were the REAL problem.

laura clark made me aware of this video on facebook because she loves coffee and i love gadgets… and now i sing the coffee electric.
