The Wolf Moon was full last week, and it followed me all the way to work.  I sent a pic to Sara and told her it was an ‘eye in the sky.’  She did a little artwork and made it so.  The following paragraph paints the Wolf Moon in yet another realm:
“The spiritual meaning of the Wolf Moon is about facing our deepest feelings and fears, and stepping up as a fierce protector and nurturer in our own lives. It represents emotional release, self-reflection, and healing. The Wolf Moon also reminds us of the unseen connections to our own “pack” and encourages us to honor our community. In native cultures, the wolf is revered as a creature of strength and wisdom, and the moon is associated with intuition and dreams.”  

Me and Mickey and the gang are back at work today.  The 3-day weekend was a nice break even with the freezing temperatures.  It’s supposed to get up to 20 today.  Currently it’s one degree out there.  I’m glad I’m in here.

My brother-in-law is not afraid of a challenge.  He eats them for breakfast when he runs out of eggs and bacon.  He knew the risks when he set out to climb Mt. Sunflower, and he did it anyway.  For the record, Mt. Sunflower is the highest point in Kansas (as the sign above indicates) and it’s within shouting distance of Colorado.

Lou Reed once sang “…life’s like space without room… that’s what life’s like without you.”  The Impossible Object also known as the Penrose Triangle feels like a close cousin to the lyrics of What’s Good.  It can’t exist, and yet there it is, even if it’s only in someone else’s imagination… and now it’s in mine like sanskrit read to a pony (another lyric from that song).

I heard something that sounded like a whale coming from the lobby at work.  Someone was probably dragging something heavy across the floor.  Anyway, I added ‘whale’ to the previous snow punk pinball pic to see if it would put a beached whale in the snow behind him– and it generated MORE PUNKS!!!  And a beached whale… and some guy playing guitar on a loveseat?!?  I need to find this tribe.

When I type the words: bonfire, deep snow, pinball, and punk into Google’s AI image generator, it feels like a mental prep for the arctic weather that’s forecast for Sunday.  It feels like I’m welcoming the storm.  It feels like a dream, and it’s ok if I don’t wake up for awhile.

Avast ye mateys!  All hands on deck!  Shiver me timbers!  Those aren’t exactly phrases to be shouted from a sailboat, but I just felt like writing them.  I decided to cast off the moorings of 2024, and set sail into the uncharted waters of 2025.  This is the image that pops up when I enter “robot Moog synth sailboat skyline Atari” into the Google AI Image Generator.  Happy (belated) New Years!

One Man Trying to Establish Himself (Rightly, In The Heart) With the Original Heart (of a Butterfly) — that’s the name of this work by my friend, Bryan Voell.  It is beautiful because I can identify with it.  I see imperfection, longing, hope, and a connection with something that resembles a higher power.

Six pounds of charred cow flesh, 12 strips of bacon, and an enough dairy to cut the cheese into next year… of course, I’m exaggerating here, but it looked that way to me when the waiter brought out Matthew’s lunch.  My stepmom’s grandson ordered The Mondo Hondo Burger off the menu at Farley’s and never looked back.

I’m not a sports fan, but I love drifting off to the calm voice of Wally McCarthy as he does play by play for sleepbaseball.com.  A few nights ago, Jenny & I put our money where our ears are, and bought a couple of t-shirts from one of the teams that play on WSLP.  The Baraboo Bombers from Baraboo, WI aren’t one of the better teams in the Northwoods Baseball League– they lose more games than they win.  We just really like their name.  I also like the flying squirrel mascot.
